The purpose of a cinemagraph is to use movement in a still image in order to evoke a certain feeling. In my cinemagraph, I chose to create movement in the record, the speaker, and the disco ball. By drawing the eye to these three places, I am able to emphasize the aspect of music and a fun, upbeat environment, without being overwhelming.
Beginning with a single still image, I used Adobe Premiere Pro and composited various videos such as a spinning record and masked them into the original photo. To achieve a seamless transition between photo and video, I used different blend modes and color correction methods.
